In our proprietary Bioreactor we are able to maintain small biopsies of human diseased tissue for prolonged periods of time (months) under in vivo-like conditions eliminating stress related protein expression induced by the biopsy collection. We can hereby analyze the effects of the drug on the target proteins expression specifically and on the expression of other proteins. This makes early qualified selection of lead compounds possible and provides valuable information on the mechanisms of action.

Many drugs are metabolized in vivo in the liver to active metabolites. In such situations we can metabolize the drug using our human hepatic ProtoTissue grown in our Bioreactor. The conditioned medium containing the drug metabolites can then be transferred to a second Bioreactor containing the diseased target tissue.
