Human Cell and tissue culture system
In order to base our work on human model systems that faithfully reflect the in vivo phenotype, DrugMode has developed a human cell and tissue culture system facilitated by a proprietary microgravity Bioreactor. In the Bioreactor we are able to induce human cells to differentiate into human ProtoTissue and to maintain human tissues or cells fully differentiated for up to a year under conditions which stimulates the cells and tissue to mimic human biology.
The Bioreactor facilitates the differentiation state of many types of cells (including human cells) inducing the cells to interact with each other and organize themselves into colonies which develop into tissue microstructures which we call ‘ProtoTissue’. These become very highly differentiated and non-transformed so that they resemble fully differentiated adult tissue.
The working volume of the Bioreactor is less than 1mL. This is essential for working with radioactivity and for pharmaceutical testing in order to reduce the costs of reagents, the consumption of compounds and the number of cells needed.
Our proprietary human cell and tissue culture system is a major breakthrough in finding the comprehensive proteomic fingerprint of a disease and mechanisms of action of a new drug candidate, since it allows us to base our proteomics on work with fully differentiated human cells and tissues for an indefinite period of time mimicking human biology at unprecedented accuracy. This provides new and highly relevant human data in preclinical drug discovery and development.
